SolisoBot
SolisoBot is the reader behind Soli.So. If you found it in your server logs, this page tells you what it does and how to control it.
What it reads, and when
It reads a page only when one of our users pastes that link into their own workspace — to build a description of their own brand from their own site. It does not crawl the web, it does not follow links from site to site looking for more, and it never collects pages for anything but that one person's request.
It obeys robots.txt
Every page it reads asks your robots.txt first — including page links our users paste themselves. If your file disallows us, we do not open the page at all, and we tell the person that your site asks automated tools not to read it and to paste the text themselves instead.
If your robots.txt is unreachable when we ask, we read nothing there until it answers again.
A file — a photo, a video or a document — that a user pastes by its own link into their chat, their media library or their AI assistant is fetched for them the way their browser would fetch it: without a robots.txt check, under the same name.
How to block it
Add this to your robots.txt and we will stop reading your site:
User-agent: SolisoBot Disallow: /
A rule for User-agent: * applies to us too. We identify ourselves as:
SolisoBot/1.0 (+https://soli.so/bot)
How it behaves
- While it reads pages, each of our workers waits at least 500 milliseconds between two page requests to the same site; a page it has to render in a browser loads its own scripts, styles and images the way a browser does.
- A file pasted by its link is one download per link, following at most 5 redirects — never a crawl, and never fetched again unless the person pastes it again.
- It reads text, and never submits forms, logs in or buys anything.
- It keeps no copy of your site beyond what that one user's brand description needs.
